OPEN HEART, STILL MIND

Move from touching Presence to living from It

A twelve-week live journey with the Bhagavad Gita
Begins September 16

JOIN OPEN HEART, STILL MIND

You already know how to touch Presence.

You've tasted it — moments of unmistakable stillness, when the noise quiets, the heart opens, and a deeper reality feels more real than the usual movement of the mind. You've touched it in meditation. In nature. In prayer. In love.

The deeper question isn't whether you can find that place. It's whether you can rest there — and stay rooted there — when life starts life-ing.

When old patterns rise. When conflict enters a relationship. When grief arrives. When the body changes. When fear tightens the mind and the heart begins to close.

That's the real work. Not merely touching Presence — learning to live from It.

More than fifty years ago, as a young man, I sat three times a week at the feet of my teacher, Goswami Kriyananda. He often began our meditation with the same words:

There is a place within where you can go to find peace, wisdom, and life direction.

I've never forgotten that. Over decades of practice, teaching, stumbling, and walking beside thousands of sincere seekers, it's become clear: touching Presence and becoming established in it are not the same thing.

This season is devoted to that difference.

Every breath is a sacred prayer.

You take about twenty thousand breaths a day. Consciously present for almost none of them.

And yet the breath is the most intimate doorway to Presence you have — and that doorway is never closed.

The sacred isn't hidden. It isn't waiting for you to deserve it. Life is endlessly committed to drawing you back to the depths. Breath by breath.

That invitation is extended twenty thousand times today. Over these twelve weeks, you learn how to consistently say yes.

Every breath is a sacred prayer.

Why the Gita?

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the world's great wisdom texts — a timeless dialogue about how to live with wisdom, courage, and inner freedom in the midst of a complicated human life.

Its setting is ancient. Its questions — and teachings — are not.

For more than fifty years, through practice, study, and teaching, I have returned to the Gita almost every day.

This season, I've carefully selected 24 verses — from 700 — to work with. Together they create a clear path through a vast terrain: from attention and steadiness, to devotion and surrender, to freedom in the midst of ordinary life.

"The Bhagavad Gita is at once a profound scripture on the science of yoga, union with God, and a textbook for everyday living."

— Paramahansa Yogananda

“Eric has a rare gift for making timeless teachings feel immediate, practical, and deeply alive.
What once felt distant or abstract now feels intimate, relevant, and available in everyday life.”

— Bruce Symonds

The journey

Over twelve weeks, you’ll move through three stages.

Still Mind.

Clarity emerges. A wider pause opens between what happens and how you respond. You discover a deeper ground of Presence — available even in the middle of difficulty.

Open Heart.

As the mind settles, the heart's protective patterns soften. You become more available to intimacy, compassion, forgiveness, and genuine connection.

Old walls don't need to be torn down. Love simply becomes more real than fear.

Living Freedom.

The deepest fruit of practice isn't confined to the cushion. Relationships become practice. Even difficulties become material for awakening — and you meet all of it with more clarity, courage, and compassion.

"My meditation used to feel separate from my life. Now my practice, my relationships, my work, and my sleep are all facets of the same shining experience of gently awakening, moment by moment. These teachings are elegant, complete, and utterly transformational."

— Michele Christensen, Seattle, WA

Twelve Wednesdays, starting September 16.

You won't be doing this alone.

Practice deepens in solitude — and in relationship.

So much of what reveals Presence emerges between us: in conversation, in deep listening, in the willingness to meet one another with honesty and care.

That's why community is woven through the season.

Every weekly class includes time to connect in small groups — you're never just a face in a Zoom grid. And twice during the season, we gather for Dialogue Circles: facilitated sessions, led by trained Wisdom Heart facilitators, devoted entirely to being with one another.

Again and again, students discover the same thing: you are not alone in your humanity, and you are not alone in your awakening.

"I never felt like 'just some student out there.' Eric's heart was genuine throughout — it infused every part of the program. And there was the community -  I felt I wasn't alone, which was important."

— Tammy Purdy, Mississauga, Canada

Why I teach this

For more than fifty years — through practice, study, and teaching — a few things have become unmistakable to me.

Awakening is real. So is conditioning.

Touching Presence awakens you. Being rooted in it changes how you live.

That’s why I return to the same question again and again:
How do we bring what we touch in meditation into the way we love, serve, and live?

That inquiry is the heart of the Wisdom Heart Way.

In the Kriya lineage, I have been given the name Tejasananda — "the bliss of Radiance." At this stage of life, it feels less like a name and more like a reminder: to say yes with every breath.

That's the spirit in which I offer this journey.

"Eric's teaching took me to that place where time stops and wisdom emerges.
He brings it out of the clouds into what I call 'earth language.'"

— John Burik, Milford, OH

One last word

Not long ago, a student shared a line from her diary that has stayed with me ever since. She wrote it when she was thirteen:

I want my life to be a prayer.

Hearing that, a voice within me said, “Me too.”

Her words remind me that prayer isn't limited to words.

Prayer can be a way of breathing. A way of listening. A way of loving. A way of meeting the joys and sorrows of a complicated human life.

That is the deeper invitation of this season — An open heart. A still mind. Every breath a sacred prayer.

If this resonates, I'd be honored to practice with you.
